I Laughed Until I Stopped!

This toon is HILARIOUS!!! I've watched it three times and I fell off my chair each time! Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT!!! Brilliant stuff!

It's Alright

The animation was smooth, the sound was spot on and the graphics were good for a stick movie. I was expecting something a little different from the punchline, though.

*SPOILER WARNING - DO NOT READ BEYOND THIS MESSAGE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE CARTOON*
I thought you'd throw in a bit of the unexpected and have the guy with the fishing pole say something like, "WOO-HOO! I caught myself a TWENTY!" As the poor (and a little dense) bastard reaches over with one hand while still holding the pole, he loses his balance and also falls off the cliff.

Overall, short and to the point. Not a bad job!

G2 responds:

thanks, Im glad you enjoyed it.

Graphics Looked Great!

The graphics were slick. I especially liked the faulty bulb in the street lamp and the debris that rose from the ground when the columns of light appeared. My only crit is that the pace was much too slow. If you had cut it tighter and put more apocalyptic scenes in, it may have moved at a more interesting pace.

Funny!

At first, I wasn't laughing, but this is one of those pieces that begins to grow on you after a while and I was laughing out loud by the end.

This doesn't need color. The character, which is well drawn, seems to work best in B&W. I read in one of your comments that you're going to be making some toons with him. If you do, I'll DEFINITELY be watching them! Good job!

Bizarre!

Smooth (though limited) animation, clean & well designed backgrounds, crisp & compressed sound - all of these things made this toon look slick, but the bizarre humour is what got me! I like stuff that comes out of left field and this has got it in spades! I just about fell outta my chair! Very funny!

Some Tips On Character Drawing

THUMBS - Be mindful of thumb placement. Everyone except Calbon & Fone has their thumbs on the wrong side of their hands at one point or another. Make quick refs to your hands as you draw your figures, that should clear it up quickly. Believe it or not, this is a common problem with a lot of beginning artists.
STIFFNESS - Your characters look too stiff. I understand all of their limbs have been made so you can tween them easily, but you lose a natural look to them when you do that. This can be fixed two ways:
1) When drawing the torso, slope the shoulders down and away from the neck. Put the arms in the layers below the torso layer. This will keep the arms a good distance from the neck so your figures won't look so bunched up.
2) Work on some frame-by-frame animations for the action sequences where the limbs are a natural part of the body and it may look more smooth and comfortable.

Overall, this is a pretty good effort. The music works and sounds great. Your background elements aren't too shabby and the storyline is okay. I hope these tips help in future projects! Best of luck to you! Cheers!

I appreciate it....

Stick Figures Are ALWAYS Forgivable ...

... especially when animated as well as this! VERY slick frame-by-frame, especially with the power and dust effects. Excellent job!

HOLY CRAP!

That is one sick sense of humour! I LOVE twisted humour! Certain parts almost made me feel guilty for laughing, but, HELL, funny is funny and this piece is DAMN FUNNY! Great job!

This Gets Points For The Art

It was pretty well done and the animation was effective. I couldn't base the score on sound or story because I couldn't understand one word of what anyone said. The sound was horrible. It sounded like someone was right on top of the mic by how loud the popping and hissing was. Next time, keep the mouth at least one fist width from the mic - that usually helps unless you also have a really crappy mic. Overall, it was a good looking project.

I'm Not A Fan Of Stick Figures ...

... but this series has been GREAT! In this trailer you've used the two most common devices a lot of people here on NG use to cop out of putting any effort into a project - stick figures and the trailer.
STICK FIGURES - folks use 'em cuz they're "easy to animate". You've shown here (and with your series) that putting some effort into animating stick figures can make them cool and inetersting. Also, I'm VERY impressed with the violence! I usually score it low in most stick movies because, really, how hardcore can violence be with a stick figure? There's no real body mass. You've proven that it can be done with great effect, hence the 10 for violence.
TRAILERS - people use them as a lazy excuse not to animate a full project or to write any kind of interesting or cohesive story. Again, you've proven that this doens't have to be the case since you created the trailer AFTER you created the series. It's also a VERY clever way to get new people to check out the series.
This is an excellent effort! You've done a really good job here! Keep up the great work!
